Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Streamer/nymph, 6-12
  • Thread Burgundy 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Burgundy material (marabou plus a few strands of flash)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Body dubbing Burgundy body dubbing (seal's fur or SLF)
  • Hackle Burgundy hackle (one saddle/hen feather, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a burgundy marabou tail about one hook length long with a few strands of flash.
  3. Tie in a length of fine wire rib and a burgundy hackle by its tip at the bend.
  4. Dub a burgundy seal-fur body forward to just behind the eye.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward over the body, then counter-wrap the wire rib to lock it and tie off.
  6. Form a neat head and whip finish.
