Start the tan thread on the dry fly hook and put a little wax on it.
Dub a short noodle of tan or dun mink and wrap a thin body from the bend forward, tightening the noodle and adding a slight taper; caddis bodies are slim.
Catch in two gray hackle tips together with loose wraps (rooster tips if hen feathers are too big), spread them into a delta split, back the splay off if it is too wide, then lock them down. Cord the thread by spinning clockwise and snip the excess butts.
Catch in a brown dry fly hackle a little longer than the hook gap and take three turns; four risks crowding the eye.
Clean up the head, whip finish and add a drop of head cement.
