How to tie it
Start the thread at the eye, wrap back past the bend, and palmer a few turns of red cactus chenille as an anti-foul tail base; tie off where the shank straightens.
Cut a sparse clump of bucktail from the top of the tail (dense fibers that won't flare), tie it in on top back to the cactus chenille, and pull tight so it stays low; optionally add three marker bars.
Tie in purple palmer chenille and wrap it forward over the tail base for flash without bulk; tie off.
Comb out a section of black arctic fox and tie it in as a collar, splitting it around the shank top and bottom to surround the hook; keep it flowing.
Tie in the extra-small dumbbell (or bead-chain) eyes on top just ahead of the collar with figure-eights and lock with a drop of hard head cement.
Bring the thread to the middle, cut, clean, and stack purple deer body hair on top of the shank, flaring and packing it, then add a few wraps in front to push it back; whip finish behind the eye.
With a razor, trim the spun deer hair to a shaped mullet/baitfish head, running parallel to the eyes on the sides, flat underneath, and a 45-degree ramp at the front, being careful not to cut the arctic fox collar.
