How to tie it
Mount the hook and lay a thread base along the rear third of the shank.
Pair the saddle hackles convex sides out, 2-3 per side, and bind them at the rear as a tail about a shank-and-a-half long. Add a few strands of pearl flash each side.
The trick to a Deceiver is keeping the wing back here, not up front, so it never fouls the tail.
Advance the thread and tie a collar of white bucktail all the way around the shank, sweeping back to hide the tie-in.
Add a short red throat for the gill, then top with a sparse veil of green or blue bucktail or peacock herl.
Build a tapered head, whip finish, and coat with head cement. Add stick-on eyes and a drop of epoxy if desired.
