Marabou Light olive marabou (A small bunch stripped from one side of a feather)
Flashabou, dyed over pearl Peacock ice dub (A few strands per side)
Straggle string Copper brown semperfli straggle string (One length for the body)
How to tie it
Slide the hot orange bead onto the hook, mount it in the vise, start the thread behind the bead and cover the whole shank with thread so the materials cannot slide.
Strip the fluffy butt from a light olive marabou feather, then peel a small clump off one side and snip the butt ends square.
Tie the marabou in at the rear of the shank so the tail is one shank length or slightly longer, pinching it to length rather than cutting the tips, and bind the butts forward.
Tie a few strands of peacock-dyed pearl Flashabou along the near side of the hook, then carry the strands around and tie them in on the far side so the flash frames both sides of the tail.
Trim the flash even with the tip of the marabou tail.
Note which way the straggle string fibres lie and tie it in at the rear facing backwards, then bind it down and bring the thread forward to just behind the bead.
Wind the straggle string forward in touching turns to the bead, take a couple of wraps at the front and tie it off.
Sweep the straggle fibres back with your fingers and build a small collar of thread against the bead, then snip the excess straggle.
