How to tie it
Run the thread through cobbler's wax, start it behind the eye and wrap back to the bend, leaving at least two eye-lengths of bare shank behind the eye for the hackle.
At the bend, tie in a small chunk of tan sparkle dubbing for the trailing shuck, fold the butts back and bind them down, then trim the shuck short. Roughly half a shank length.
Spin the green dubbing onto the thread in a thin, tight noodle and wrap forward, tightening the noodle as you go, building a slim tapered body that stops two eye-lengths short of the eye.
Prepare two tan CDC feathers by snipping the very tip of the stem out of each, then marry them together with the stems aligned.
Measure the CDC wing to the same length as the trailing shuck, tie it in on top of the hook at the front of the body, and trim the butts.
Tie a tiny pinch of the leftover tan sparkle dubbing on top of the wing base as an overwing, then trim it to the same length as the CDC and snip off any scraggly fibers.
Prepare the brown grizzly hackle by stripping the lowest barbs and trimming either side of the stem down to short stubble, wax the thread on both sides, and tie the hackle in at the side of the hook at the front of the wing.
Take about five turns of hackle starting right at the base of the wing, a couple behind and a couple in front, then hold it and put three half hitches in with a half-hitch tool. This also keeps the hackle out of the eye.
Snip the hackle tip and the thread, then stroke the body dubbing back so it is not too scraggly.
