Chronie Skin flash Holographic red flash (2 strands for flashback)
Micro Glint tinsel Pearl mylar tinsel (6 strands for wingcase and wing buds)
Superfine dubbing Black dubbing (Tiny tight noodle for thorax)
How to tie it
Start the thread a little back from the eye. Tie in the silver wire, then tie 2 strands of holo red Chronie Skin in on top of the shank.
Spin the bobbin counter-clockwise to flatten the thread and wrap a smooth body down the shank, going well down the bend.
Invert the hook, pull the flash over the underside at the rear and lock it with one wrap, then bring the thread in front of it. This stops the flash slipping when pulled forward. Return the hook upright.
Build a smooth, slightly tapered thread body back up the shank.
Add a tiny smear of superglue along the top, pull the flash forward over the back as a flashback, and lock it at the front with three wraps, then a couple more in front. Trim, and half-hitch.
Wind the silver wire rib up in 7-8 evenly spaced turns, add a couple of extra wire wraps at the front for weight, tie off and break the wire away.
Build a small thread base over the wire tie-off, wax the thread, and tie in 6 strands of pearl Micro Glint on top, ends facing rearward, at the rear edge of the thorax area.
Dub a small, tight noodle of black Superfine and build a modest thorax, staying well back from the eye.
Pull the Micro Glint forward over the thorax as a wingcase, tie it down, and lock with a wrap in front. Split the remaining strands three to each side, sweep them back and slightly up as wing buds, and bind them in position.
Wax the thread again, build a neat black head over the tie-downs and whip finish. The wax replaces head cement.
