Semperflash blend San Juan mix (chartreuse/gunmetal blue/rust orange) (8-10 strands tail, 3 strands body)
Cross-cut rabbit strip Olive rabbit zonker strip (Fur clump for tail, clip of fur for collar loop)
Fine wire Chartreuse (gold fine) (1 length for rib)
How to tie it
Slide the gold bead to the eye, start the olive thread behind it, and run a base back to where the barb would be.
Snip 8-10 strands of San Juan flash even and tie them in on top just behind the bead, binding back to the rear. The tail should be about three-quarters of a shank-length.
Cut a piece of olive rabbit off the hide, remove the underfur, and tie the fur clump on top so it rides just above and slightly beyond the flash. Cover all the butts completely so they can't show through the flash body.
Tie in the chartreuse wire rib and return the thread to the front.
Tie in 3 strands of San Juan flash at the front, bind them to the rear, then wrap them forward flat, covering the body so the mixed colours show. Tie off.
Counter-wind the wire rib in even spaces, purely for durability, tie off and twist free.
Move the thread about one bead-length back and form a 2-inch dubbing loop; wax it lightly.
Clamp a clip of olive rabbit fur from the hide, set it in the loop, adjust and trim its length (the collar butts can rest against the thread), spread the fur thin, and spin the loop.
Brush the spun fur out, then wind the fur hackle forward one turn in front of the other to the bead, sweeping it back as you go. Tie off.
Sweep the collar back, whip finish, then whip finish a second time over a drop of glue applied to the thread (not the rabbit).
