Slide the bead on with the small end forward. Wind about 12 turns of the 0.23mm Lead Free Wire behind it and break both ends off.
Start the 1/0 Orange Fluoro Brite on the hook as thread with a couple of wraps over the lead, spin it to keep it thin, snip the tag, and wrap down to the bottom of the bend and back up to almost the lead. Whip off and snip. Coat the hot spot with UV resin and cure.
Start the Black Waxed thread behind the bead and cover the lead wraps.
Tie in the 20D Fl. Green Fluoro Brite rib and bind it down so only a tiny hint of the hot spot shows. Bring the thread back up to where the lead starts.
Tie in the Golden Olive Micro Fritz at the rear and take the thread to the two-thirds point. Wind the fritz forward with the first turn right at the bottom for an ostrich-herl look; tie off and snip. Turn the hook in the vise if the first turn is awkward.
Wind the rib forward in even open turns, tie off and snip.
Take a Mottled Grey Hen Hackle feather, measure how far back the legs should reach, snip out the tip, sweep forward five or six fibres per side and peel off everything below. Bind the stem on top, snip it, pull the legs down slightly to the sides and lock them with the thread.
Spin the Black Hares Ear Ice Dub into a tight noodle and wind a thorax snug against the bead, adding a little more if needed.
Whip finish and snip. Trim only the wildest strands; the head is meant to stay a little bushy.
