Tungsten bead Black bead (1, 3/32")
Lead-free wire 0.23mm (About 12 wraps)
Fluoro Brite Orange (1/0) fluoro brite (Short length for hot spot butt)
Gel Core Micro Fritz Golden olive gel core micro fritz (1 length for body)
Fluoro Brite Fluorescent green (20D) fluoro brite (1 length for rib)
Brahma hen fibers Mottled grey (or partridge) (5-6 per side for legs)
Hare's ear Ice Dub Black (peacock-black) hare s ear ice dub (Small noodle for thorax)
How to tie it
Slide the bead on small hole forward, then wind about 12 wraps of lead-free wire behind it and break off the ends.
Start the orange Fluoro Brite on the hook like thread, take a couple of wraps over the lead, spin to keep it thin, and wrap down around the bend and back up. Whip off, trim, and seal the orange butt with a thin coat of UV resin; cure.
Start the black thread behind the bead and cover the lead wraps.
Tie in the green Fluoro Brite rib, binding down so only a tiny hint of the orange hot spot still shows at the rear.
Tie in the golden olive Micro Fritz at the rear and bring the thread to the two-thirds point.
Wind the fritz up the shank, the first wrap starting right at the bottom, for an ostrich-herl look, tie off at the two-thirds point and trim.
Wind the green rib up in evenly spaced turns; tie off and trim.
Prepare a mottled grey Brahma hen feather: measure the leg length, snip out the tip, isolate 5-6 fibers per side and tie them in on top; pull the legs down to the sides and lock them there.
Spin the black/peacock Ice Dub into a tight noodle and dub a thorax snug against the bead.
Whip finish; leave the head slightly bushy, trimming only wild strays.
