Hook Curved nymph, 2x (Togens), 18
Thread Medium olive Micro Glint (tinsel used as the thread and body) Semperfli Micro Glint
Materials
Brass bead Orange/brass (gold, copper or silver also fine) (1, 3/32")
Micro Glint tinsel Medium olive micro glint tinsel (Serves as thread and body)
Rabbit fur (from strip or mask) Olive ostrich herl (2 small clumps, tail and wing)
How to tie it
Slide the bead to the eye and start the Micro Glint on the hook directly behind it like thread, running it back to where the barb would be.
Pull a clump of olive rabbit fur from the strip, strip out as much underfur as you can, and moisten the tips.
Measure the clump to about one body-length (a touch longer for wiggle), hold it on top and trap it with a loose loop of the Micro Glint pulled tight, then bind over the butts. Run a couple of turns underneath the long tail as support.
Wrap the Micro Glint forward in even touching turns to build the body, if the strands uncord, give the bobbin a clockwise spin to re-cord them.
Build up slightly right behind the bead to create a small ramp.
Pull a second, smaller and shorter clump of rabbit, clean the underfur, and measure it so the tips reach just past the hook point.
Trap it on top behind the bead with another loose loop pulled tight. This is the wing.
Whip finish with the Micro Glint behind the bead, trim, and add a drop of superglue or resin if desired.
