Start the Rust Brown thread and run it down the bend.
Take four or five fibres of Grey Brahma Hen for the trailing shuck. One wrap, pull them to length so only a short hint trails behind, a turn underneath, snip and bring the thread back up.
Build a slight thread taper over the rear three-quarters of the body.
Tie the Brown Micro Glint rib in along the side, back to where the shuck starts, and cover the tie-in with thread.
Counter-wind the rib forward in four or five even turns and tie it off.
Tie in a piece of Dark Brown Micro Glitz and take about three turns for the thorax. Tie off.
Choose a Grey Brahma Hen feather whose fibres reach the length you want when measured against the hook. Snip the tip into a small triangle, wax the underside of the thread and bind the tip in with a wrap or two, keeping the thread short.
Draw the fibres back through your fingers and wind one and a half to two turns. Wiggle the thread through so no fibres are trapped, snip the stem, sweep the hackle back, build a neat little head and whip finish twice.
