Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Jig (Partridge Ideal Jig) with slotted bead, 10-12 jig
  • Thread White 8/0 Semperfli Classic Waxed

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Pink, 3.3mm (1)
  • Krystal Flash / Flashabou Accent Pink dyed over pearl (Small bunch for tail accent)
  • Micro Gel Core Fritz (Flybox) Original Biscuit (1 length for body, wet it before tying)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the slotted bead on with the hole forward and the slot on top so the fly hangs correctly, and mount the jig hook.
  2. Start the white thread and run it to the rear of the shank.
  3. Cut the ends of a small bunch of pink-over-pearl flash flush and tie it in at the rear as a short tail accent, taking a couple of wraps underneath the last wrap so it can't twist around the bend.
  4. Soak the Micro Fritz in water. It's much easier to work with wet, and strip a little fringe off the end to expose the core string.
  5. Tie the fritz in by the exposed core at the rear.
  6. Return the thread to the front and wrap the fritz forward in close touching turns, sweeping the fibers back each turn, until it sits snug behind the bead. Tie off and trim.
  7. Whip finish twice behind the bead (a drop of superglue on the thread is good insurance) and cut the thread.
  8. Give the blob a light haircut to even the body and trim the flash tail so it extends only a little beyond the fritz.
