Slide the bead on with the wide end forward and push it back. Start the Steel thread at the front of the hook with about five wraps.
Wrap Pearl Micro Glint around your fingers four times and cut the loops for about eight strands. Bind the bundle in at an angle close to the front, whip finish over the little bump and snip the thread.
Slide the bead over the gill to the front and trim the gill even with the front of the hook.
Reattach the thread behind the bead and tie in the 0.1mm Black Wire, pulling the tag back. Bind the wire down the side of the hook to the curve, missing as few spots as you can, spinning the bobbin to flatten the thread as you go. Take one turn of thread behind the wire.
Cover the body back up with flattened thread and build the taper: wrap back about halfway down the fly and forward again, then back about half that distance and forward, until the body is a slim cigar. Throw in a whip finish to hold the thread.
Wind the wire forward in about seven even ribs. Tie it off behind the bead with a couple of wraps in front and break the wire away.
Colour the thread black with the marker and whip finish twice for the thorax. Pull tight before snipping.
Brush on a coat of brushable superglue first, since it does not discolour the steel thread; once dry add a second coat of glue, Sally Hansen or UV resin, dropped on top so it soaks into the body, and stand the fly in a cork to dry.
