- Hook 1-2XL nymph hook, 12-18
- Thread Brown or black 8/0
Materials
- Gold bead Gold bead (1)
- Hare's ear guard hairs (tail) Natural hare s ear dubbing (small bunch)
- Gold rib Gold middle (1 length)
- Hare's ear dubbing Natural hare s ear dubbing (as needed)
- Pearl flash (flashback) Pearl flashabou (1 slip)
- Partridge soft hackle collar Natural partridge (1-2 turns)
How to tie it
- Slide the gold bead to the eye, start thread and wrap to above the barb.
- Tie in a short tail of hare's guard hairs and the gold rib.
- Dub a rough hare's ear abdomen two-thirds up the shank and rib the wire forward.
- Tie in a strip of pearl flash, then dub a shaggy thorax behind the bead.
- Pull the flash over the thorax and secure behind the bead.
- Wrap one to two turns of partridge as a collar, sweep back, and whip finish.
