Holographic tinsel Blue flashabou (1 length for body)
Fine wire Black, 0.1mm (1 length for rib)
Superfine dubbing blended with Prism SLF dubbing Black (60/40 blend) (Small pinch for thorax)
Hen cape hackle Black (Indian hen) (1 small feather)
How to tie it
Wax the thread and lay a smooth base of touching wraps from behind the eye down around the start of the bend. The tinsel body will telegraph any bumps.
Tie in the fine black wire at the rear, fold the tag back over itself and bind it down so the slippery Nano Silk can't pull it free.
Tie in the blue holographic tinsel near the front, return the thread to the front and park it with a half hitch.
Add a small drop of brushable superglue along the shank, then wrap the tinsel in touching turns down to the bend and back to the front, forming a smooth double-layer body. Tie off a little behind the eye and trim.
Counter-wind the wire rib: take two or three turns right at the back behind the tinsel, then 5-6 evenly spaced open turns up the body. Tie off and twist the wire free.
Dub a small ball of the black Superfine/Prism SLF blend as a thorax, just enough to prop the hackle fibers out from the shank.
Prepare a small black hen feather: sweep the fibers back and trim the tip into a small triangle 'anchor'. Wax the thread and tie the anchor in firmly just behind the eye.
Wind the hackle two and a half to three turns, sweeping the fibers rearward with each turn, then weave the thread up through the hackle while pulling it back to lock the stem.
Sweep everything back, build a small black head and whip finish. No head cement needed if you wax the thread.
