Pheasant tail Dark olive pheasant tail (3-4 fibers for tail, a thicker bunch for the back)

How to tie it
Slide the 2 mm black nickel tungsten bead to the eye and start the tan thread behind it.
Tie in three or four dark olive pheasant tail fibers at the bend as a tail, measured about one hook-length long.
Lay a strand of fine copper wire along the side of the shank and tie it in, ends to the rear.
Tie in a slightly thicker bunch of dark olive pheasant tail just behind the bead, bind it back along the top of the shank, and leave it hanging rearward. This becomes the shellback.
Build the body with tan thread wraps, keeping it very thin with only a slight taper up to the bead.
Pull the pheasant tail forward over the top as the back, tie it down behind the bead, and trim the excess.
Counter-rib the copper wire forward over the back in open turns, pulling up (not down) on the wire so the shellback doesn't slide, and tie off behind the bead.
Take a few tan thread wraps behind the bead to suggest a light thorax, whip finish, and burn off the thread tag to keep it tight.
