Materials
Lead or lead-free wire - (About 5 wraps of 0.015"-0.020" (match hook wire diameter))
Wire rib Any color, copper, green, etc. (One length, slightly oversized (Brassie size))
Fur dubbing Any, natural squirrel with guard hairs shown (Small amounts, two applications)
How to tie it
Pinch the barb, then take about five wraps of 0.015" wire around the shank and slide the weight to two eye-lengths behind the eye; check you haven't opened the hook gap.
Start the thread, dam the weight in place front and back, and run wraps over it, ending well down around the bend of the hook.
Tie in the wire rib near the front and bind it back down to the rear of the body area.
Wax the thread and dub the fur, guard hairs and all, in a thin first pass from around the bend forward, spinning the noodle tighter as needed.
Add a second short application of dubbing to carry the body over the weight to just behind the eye, keeping a taper that thickens toward the front.
Counter-wrap the wire rib forward in open turns to shape and lock the fuzzy body, tie off, and break away the wire.
Push the dubbing back from the eye, build a small tidy head, whip finish, and cement.
