How to tie it
Lay a black thread base to the bend and tie in a tail of grizzly hen fibers a bit shorter than one body-length; leave the butts, the fuzzy body will bury them.
Tie in small oval gold tinsel at the front and bind it down along the shank to the rear.
Wax the thread well and dub a noodle of muskrat fur, wrapping a slightly lumpy, fuzzy body over the rear two-thirds of the shank.
Counter-wrap the tinsel rib forward in open turns and tie it off.
Prepare a grizzly hen feather, strip a tie-in point on the stem, and tie it in at the front of the body.
Fold the stem back and lock it, then wrap four or five hackle turns forward to the head position. Don't fret if fibers stick out; flymphs are meant to look alive.
Catch off the hackle, trim the excess, sweep the fibers back, ramp a small head over the bases, whip finish, and cement.
