How to tie it
Secure the 1.5" Intruder shank, steady it with your thumb, and build a full thread base, finishing near the front.
Figure-eight the dumbbell eyes on very securely near the front of the shank.
Tie in a supple trailing loop of backing or 20 lb mono (stiff wire kills tail movement), leaving room to slide a hook into the loop later.
Build a small, generous clump of fritz at the very rear of the shank. Its only job is to flare the coming feathers and stop them collapsing inward.
Take two schlappen feathers, line them up at the point where the smooth barbs end and the fluffy marabou-like base begins, tie them in there, and palmer the fluffy sections two turns.
Take two feathers of a different color, lay them in rotated 90 degrees from the last pair, tie in at the same point on the stem, and palmer twice; keep alternating colors two at a time until the body fills to within a half inch of the eyes.
Tie in several strands of Krystal Flash in assorted colors over the body for sparkle.
Palmer two final schlappen feathers in the darkest colors at the head, baitfish run darker up front, then whip finish and trim the thread.
Dress the size 4 stinger: small thread base, then one pink and one purple schlappen tied in one per side at the smooth/fluffy junction and each palmered twice; sweep back, taper with thread, and whip finish.
Thread a piece of mono or flash through the trailer hook eye, pull the trailing loop through, and pass the dressed hook through the loop to seat it.
