How to tie it
Slide the gold bead to the eye and lay down several wraps of.010-.015 lead wire behind it, pushing the wraps up against the bead.
Start the black thread and take it a short way down the bend, building a small ball of thread there to splay the tails.
Even up two dark goose biots, orient them so they splay away from each other against the thread ball, and tie them in half a shank long with a loose pinch wrap followed by tight wraps. Bind the butts forward to the lead and trim.
Tie in the gold brassie wire at the rear and leave it hanging.
Dub a tapered black body of SLF dubbing from the tail forward, stopping just short of the bead.
Counter-wrap the wire forward through the body in open spirals and tie it off behind the bead.
Tie in two ginger or gold biots as a wing on top, forming a V that faces away from each other and reaches back to just past the tail; trim the butts.
Strip about 20 India hen back fibers with tips evened and tie them in along the near side so they reach nearly to the back of the fly; repeat on the far side. Trim the butt ends.
Dub a very sparse collar of the same black dubbing behind the bead, just enough to cover the thread work and build a small head.
