Pheasant tail fibers Natural pheasant tail fibers (2, for a split tail)

How to tie it
Lay a brown thread base to the bend and tie in two pheasant tail fibers on top as a tail about one hook-length long; spread them apart (a tiny drop of glue at the split keeps them separated).
Tie in the brown D-rib near the front with the rounded side toward the hook and bind it along the shank to the tail, using it to build underbody bulk.
Wax the thread well and dub a coarse amber seal-fur body up the shank and back down again to build a stonefly taper. Thin at the rear, thicker at the thorax.
Spiral the D-rib forward in three or four open turns so the round face shows, tie it off at the two-thirds point, and trim.
Tie in the first jungle cock eye flat on top, reaching back about halfway down the body.
Dub a little more amber fur ahead of it for separation, then tie in a second jungle cock eye on top of the first, slightly forward, so the two overlap like a stonefly carapace.
Take one or two turns of partridge as a sparse leg collar (or tie a bunch in as a throat), then trim away the top fibers so the legs sit at the sides and bottom and the wingcase shows.
Build a good-sized nymph head, whip finish, cement, and pick out any wild dubbing fibers.
