Daniel's Jiggy Fry

Nymph · Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gap jig hook (Hanak 450), 12
  • Thread White GSP 30D

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Black nickel, 3.8mm (1)
  • Grizzly marabou Yellow marabou (1 wispy feather (tail) + tip section (collar))
  • Ice Dub Gold ice dub (Thin noodle (body))

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead on and start the GSP thread behind it.
  2. Select a wispy yellow grizzly marabou feather, strip the fluff, and tie it in for the tail about two shank-lengths long.
  3. Wrap a few turns down the curve of the shank to hold the tail up and straight so it will not foul.
  4. Dub a thin gold ice dub noodle and build a slightly tapered body from the bend to just behind the bead, adding a little at a time to keep control.
  5. Form a dubbing loop, insert a roughly 3/4-inch marabou tip section, spin it and wrap it as a collar behind the bead so the fibers sweep back to the mid-body.
  6. Add a thin gold ice dub noodle in front to angle the collar back, then secure.
  7. Touch the thread with brushable superglue, whip finish behind the bead and trim.
