Thread Fluorescent green (tag/rib) and black (body) 70-140 denier
Materials
Brass or tungsten bead Gold bead (One, 2.4 mm)
Fluorescent green thread Fluorescent green thread (For tag at rear and rib)
Antron or Z-lon Amber zelon or antron (Small strand for wing)
Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2 strands)
How to tie it
Slide the bead to the eye, then start the fluorescent green thread at midshank and wrap well around the bend, back up over itself, and build a short bright tag at the rear; half hitch and leave the long green tag end hanging for the rib.
Attach the black thread and lay a base back down to the front of the green tag.
Tie in a small strand of amber Z-lon/Antron just behind the bead with an inch or so pointing forward over the eye. It gets folded back later, and bind it down along the top of the shank.
With the thread hanging at midshank, tie in two strands of peacock herl by their butts (tie in a couple of inches up the strands and break off the brittle ends).
Wrap the herl forward over the rear two-thirds to where the thread hangs about a third of the way behind the bead, and catch it off with two wraps, keeping the leftover herl.
Counter-wrap the green tag thread forward through the herl as a rib and tie it off.
Fold the amber yarn back over the body and secure it with a couple of wraps.
Wrap the remaining herl forward to the back of the bead, tie off, and secure with two or three 3-turn whip finishes tight behind the bead (or a drop of super glue under the final wraps).
Gather the yarn wing and trim it level with the back of the bend.
