Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Long-shank lure/streamer hook, 8-10
  • Thread Olive 6/0

Materials

  • Tail Olive ostrich herl (Marabou plume)
  • Flash Pearl or green flash (Few strands Krystal Flash)
  • Body Olive ostrich herl (Fritz or chenille)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (Fine oval tinsel, optional)
  • Hackle Olive hen (One feather, optional collar)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start olive thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in an olive marabou tail about one shank length long and add a few strands of flash over it.
  3. Bind in the fritz or chenille at the tail base.
  4. Wind the body material forward in touching turns to just behind the eye and tie off.
  5. If adding a collar, wind two turns of olive hen hackle and sweep the fibers back.
  6. Build a neat thread head, whip finish and snip.
  7. Wet the marabou and stroke it back so the tail tapers and pulses on the retrieve.
