How to tie it
Wrap five to six turns of .010 lead wire edge to edge at the thorax, trim the excess, and secure the wire with thread.
Tie in three peacock herl tips for the tail, starting at the base of the lead wire and binding along the straight portion of the shank to the bend; fold the herl over and secure it.
Tie in the fine oval tinsel at the base of the lead wire and bind it back to the tail, then return the thread to the base of the wire.
Secure the silk floss at the base of the wire, bind it back along the abdomen, then wrap the floss forward in slightly overlapping turns; secure and trim the excess.
Wrap the fine oval tinsel forward in slightly angled, evenly spaced turns, secure it on the lead portion, and trim.
Trim a strip of 1/8" scud back to a point, secure it on the bare hook just in front of the lead wire, then stretch it back over the wire and secure it.
Split the thread, wax it, lay in the Hare's Ear dubbing, collapse the thread onto it, spin with a dubbing twister, and brush the dubbing out. Wrap it edge to edge over the lead wire with hackle pliers, stopping halfway between the eye and the lead; secure and trim.
Pick out the dubbing, fold the scud back forward over the thorax as the wingcase, secure it in front of the dubbing, then fold it back and secure again.
Tie in two grizzly marabou tips as wings, one on each side of the folded wingcase, left and right; secure and trim.
Seat a pair of small black mono eyes hard against the shoulder where the wings were tied in, and add a drop of head cement.
Split and wax the thread again, spin a second brush of Hare's Ear dubbing, and wrap it behind and between the eyes, finishing with the thread behind the eye. Fold the scud back over once more, secure, and trim the excess.
