How to tie it
Start the thread and tie in three strands of midge Krystal Flash at the bend, leaving the tips trailing as a tail; open-palmer the flash forward to bulk the body slightly.
Tie in a short piece of fine silver wire, then taper the body with thread, stopping at the two-thirds point of the shank.
Wrap the wire forward in open spirals over the body, close the last turns, and helicopter the wire until it pops off. Never cut wire with your good scissors.
Trim the flash tail to about one shank-length and secure the front with a few wraps and a half hitch.
Dub a small thorax of black dubbing ahead of the body.
Strip a soft black hackle, tie it in by the stem, and take three or four wraps toward the eye; cinch it down and half hitch.
Break up the hackle barbs slightly with your fingers and press them rearward so the soft hackle sweeps back over the thorax; lock with one or two more wraps and a half hitch.
Tie in a small bunch of Crinkle Mirror Flash on top as a wet-fly style overwing reaching back to the end of the body, angled slightly upward.
