Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved caddis/scud hook, 8-14
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Weight Lead-free (10-14 wraps)
- Abdomen Olive or tan material (seal-sub / Ice Dub blend)
- Rib Gold or red wire (1 strand)
- Shellback Dark brown Thin Skin (1 strip)
- Thorax Black / peacock herl or dubbing (dubbing, picked out)
- Hot spot Fluorescent pink rear bump (thread band)
How to tie it
- Mount the curved hook, wrap 10-14 turns of lead-free wire, and start black thread.
- Bind a dark Thin Skin shellback and a wire rib at the bend, following the curve.
- Dub a fat translucent olive abdomen forward over the rear three-quarters.
- Dub a dark buggy thorax at the front.
- Pull the shellback tight over the back and bind it at the eye.
- Counter-wrap the wire rib forward in 6-7 even turns and helicopter off the tag.
- Pick out the thorax for legs, add a fluorescent pink hot-spot band, whip finish and coat the back with UV resin.
