  • Thread Brown 8/0

Materials

  • Weight Lead-free (10-14 wraps)
  • Rear abdomen Orange/amber material (dubbing)

  • Rib Clear mono or fine wire (1 strand)
  • Shellback Clear/pearl Scud Back (1 strip)
  • Thorax Dark hare (dubbing, picked out)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the curved hook, add 10-14 wraps of lead-free wire, and start brown thread.
  2. Tie in a clear Scud Back shellback and a mono rib at the bend along the curve.
  3. Dub the rear third of the abdomen bright orange, then continue with olive or brown to build a two-tone "rainbow" body over the back three-quarters.
  4. Dub a dark hare thorax at the front.
  5. Stretch the shellback over the whole back and bind it at the eye.
  6. Rib the mono forward in 6-7 even turns to segment the body and lock the shellback, then tie off.
  7. Pick out the thorax for legs, add a fluorescent red hot-spot band, whip finish and glaze the back with UV resin.
