Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved caddis/scud hook, 8-14
- Thread Olive 8/0
Materials
- Weight Lead-free (10-14 wraps)
- Abdomen Olive/caddis green (seal-sub or Ice Dub blend)
- Rib Clear mono (1 strand)
- Shellback Olive Scud Back (1 strip)
- Thorax Black or dark brown material (dubbing)
- Hot spot Fluorescent orange egg sac (thread collar)
How to tie it
- Mount the curved hook, lay 10-14 wraps of lead-free wire along the shank, and start olive thread.
- Tie in an olive Scud Back shellback strip and a mono rib at the bend, following the curve.
- Dub a fat translucent caddis-green abdomen over the rear three-quarters, tapering with the hook.
- Dub a dark thorax at the front.
- Stretch the shellback over the entire back and bind it at the eye.
- Counter-wrap the mono rib forward in 6-7 even turns for crisp segmentation and tie off.
- Add a fluorescent orange hot-spot collar, whip finish and glaze the back with UV resin.
