How to tie it
Start the thread at the midpoint of the shank and tie in a wisp of March Brown Antron as a trailing shuck, binding it down to just past the bend.
Tie in a PMD turkey biot at the bend with the notch facing the eye, build a slight thread taper on the abdomen, then wrap the biot forward to form a segmented, furled body over the rear 60% and tie off.
Wet your fingers, stroke the CDC puff fibers back, and tie the puff in by its tips with a pinch wrap just ahead of the body, loosely at first so you can adjust it, then clip the stem end.
Place one very small drop of super glue at the base of the puff and post the thread up the wing to create a solid parachute post; add a second tiny drop partway up to secure it.
With the thread behind the wing, lay the medium dun hackle in at an angle, take a wrap in front of the wing to secure it, then lift and post the hackle stem up the wing alongside the post.
Dub a sparse thorax of PMD Superfine around the wing base. Less is more.
Wrap the hackle down the post parachute-style, then secure it with two turns of thread over the hackle tip and one beneath, half hitch, and trim the excess hackle and any wayward fibers.
Pull everything back, whip finish twice at the eye, and clip the thread.
Reinforce the tip of the CDC puff with a tiny drop of super glue worked into the fibers, trim off the stem top, and trim the shuck to length.
