How to tie it
Start the thread about halfway along the shank. Tie in a wisp of March Brown colored antron dubbing shuck with a pinch wrap, pull it straight down to lock it, then pull it back and bind over it to just around the bend.
Tie in the PMD turkey biot at the bend with the notch facing the eye. Build a slight thread taper for the abdomen, then wrap the biot forward to form a segmented furled body. Tie off with a couple of wraps, clip, and cover the butt with a few wraps.
Wet your fingers and stroke the CDC puff fibers back. Measure it and tie it in by the tips with a pinch wrap, keeping it loose enough to adjust, then clip the butt ends.
Put one very small drop of super glue right at the base of the CDC puff and post the thread up it to make a solid parachute post. Add another tiny drop partway up the post.
With the thread behind the wing, lay the Whiting medium dun hackle in at an angle and take a wrap in front of the wing to secure it. Lift the hackle and post it up the wing alongside the CDC.
Dub a sparse thorax of PMD colored Superfine dubbing around the wing base and leave the thread in front of the wing.
Wrap the hackle down the post parachute-style. Turn the fly so the hackle sits at 90 degrees to the hook, push the thread out, and take two wraps over the hackle tip and one beneath it. Half hitch, then trim the remaining hackle and any wayward fibers.
Wet your fingers, pull everything back, whip finish twice at the eye and clip the thread.
Reinforce the tip of the CDC puff with a drop of super glue, pressing it lightly into the tip fibers, then trim off the top of the stem and trim the shuck to length.
