Materials
Bead 4mm (#8 hook) brass bead
Body Orange Diamond Braid
How to tie it
Slide the 4mm brass bead to the eye. Start the thread just behind the bead and lay a base layer down the shank and back again, ending a short way behind the bead.
Pull both tag ends of the Orange Diamond Braid out of the bag, trap both ends on top of the shank and bind them down to the rear of the thread base. Come back a little to tidy the ends and trim anything unruly.
Fold both tags over to form a small first loop and cinch it down with a couple of thread wraps.
Fold a second loop slightly bigger than the first and lock it with three wraps, pulling hard on the third. Repeat, each loop a touch larger than the last, advancing up the shank without letting the loops get too large. On a #8 with a bead expect about five loops; six without a bead.
Form one slightly smaller loop right in front, secure with a couple of loose wraps, then push the bead back and pull down on the thread so the bead seats properly.
Trim the braid tags over the eye and tie a double whip finish behind the bead.
Flip the fly over and coat the exposed thread on the underside with head cement or UV resin so the thread survives more than a fish or two.
