Crostons Tungsten Mini Egg

Egg · Trout · Beginner · 2 versions

Classic Recipe

  • Hook barbless wide-gape grub/egg hook, 14
  • Thread fluorescent to match egg (hot pink, red) 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Tungsten bead sized to load the drop-back bung (~2.5-3.0mm) (1)
  • Body/egg Egg yarn / Glo-Brite or micro-chenille (hot pink, red, pellet) (small tuft)
  • Hot spot Fluorescent thread collar (few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the tungsten bead at the head. The fly is weighted to match Croston's drop-back-bung loading system.
  2. Start fluorescent thread and lay a short base along the shank.
  3. Tie in a compact tuft of egg yarn or micro-chenille and figure-eight/trim it into a small round egg over the middle of the shank.
  4. Wind a fluorescent hot-spot collar behind the bead.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of varnish; trim the egg neat and round.
