Croston's Micro Rabbit

Streamer · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Jig Force black nickel barbless jig hook, 8-12
  • Thread brown (or to match body) 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Black slotted tungsten bead (3.8-4.6mm) (1)
  • Tail/body Micro rabbit zonker strip, natural brown (or olive) (1 strip)
  • Flash Pearl flash (few strands)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the black slotted tungsten bead behind the eye of the jig hook so it rides point-up.
  2. Start thread at the rear and tie in a micro rabbit zonker strip so a length trails past the bend as a wagging tail.
  3. Add a couple of strands of pearl flash along each side for a baitfish sparkle.
  4. Bring the thread forward and secure the zonker strip along the top of the shank, folding/palmering it forward to build a slim, mobile body.
  5. Tie the zonker off behind the bead, keeping the head area clean.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of head cement; stroke the rabbit fur back so it flows over the hook.
