Egg · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook wide-gape barbless grub/nymph hook (Fulling Mill FM5027), 12-14
  • Thread fluorescent pink 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold tungsten drop bead (3.0-3.5mm) (1)
  • Body Soft suede / micro-chenille, natural or pale pink (small) (1 strand)
  • Hot spot Fluorescent pink thread over the bead (few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the tungsten drop bead at the eye of the hook.
  2. Start thread behind the bead and lay a thin smooth base to the bend.
  3. Tie in a single strand of soft suede chenille at the rear with a short trailing stub for a mobile tail.
  4. Wrap the thread forward to behind the bead for a clean underbody.
  5. Spiral the soft chenille forward in touching turns to a slim, supple body and tie off behind the bead.
  6. Finish with a few turns of fluorescent pink thread as a hot-spot collar, whip finish and varnish.
