Classic Recipe

  • Hook Salmon single/double, 6-12
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Tail GP crest (small)
  • Body Flat silver tinsel (smooth)
  • Rib Oval silver (fine)
  • Wing Gray squirrel (sparse)
  • Hackle Light blue hackle (beard)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the salmon hook and start black thread at the rear.
  2. Tie in a small golden pheasant crest tail curving up, then catch in fine silver oval rib.
  3. Bind in flat silver tinsel and wrap a smooth body forward, then rib it with 5 even open turns of the oval and tie off.
  4. Tie in a beard of light blue hackle fibers under the throat, reaching to the point.
  5. Set a sparse gray squirrel wing low on top, tips to the bend.
  6. Build a small neat head, whip finish and varnish.
