Reference Recipe
- Hook 1XL dry / emerger (TMC 100 or 2487), 14-18
- Thread Pale olive 8/0
Materials
- Trailing shuck Amber vinyl rib medium (Zelon or marabou fibers)
- Abdomen PMD olive (Fine dubbing)
- Wing/post Dun microfibetts (CDC tuft)
- Flotation Gray flotation (Thin foam strip (optional))
- Hackle Grizzly hackle (One feather, stacked)
- Thorax PMD olive (Dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread; tie in a short amber Zelon trailing shuck at the bend to suggest the stuck nymphal skin.
- Dub a slim, tapered abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
- Tie in an upright CDC wing tuft (and a thin foam strip over it if you want extra float).
- Wind and stack the grizzly hackle through the thorax in Quigley's stacked-hackle style, sweeping fibers rearward.
- Dub a compact thorax over the hackle base.
- Whip finish behind the eye.
