How to tie it
Mount the Ahrex TP610 size 2 and lay a thread base with the red 8/0 all the way to the bend, then trim the tag. The 8/0 is chosen over something finer for the extra grip.
Tie in a short piece of Creeper Chenille, making sure the core is secured, and trap down any rubber legs standing up so they are out of the way.
Advance the thread and measure the tail length, then pinch the free end and twist it between your fingers for ten or fifteen seconds, holding it straight out from the hook so it cannot unravel. A clip on the end works too.
Pinch the chenille where you want the tail to end and let the two halves furl back onto each other. Doubling it over is what makes the tail both durable and wobbly, and the twist tightens the material so it does not end up bulky.
Tie the furled tail off at the shank.
Tie in the body length of Creeper Chenille, take the thread forward to just behind the eye, and put in a single-turn whip finish or half hitch so you can use the rotary function. Swing the bobbin out on the rest.
Brush Z-ment along the shank so that as you palmer the chenille it bonds thread, hook and material together.
Palmer the chenille forward. If you can still see red thread showing through, you are not wrapping tightly enough.
Tie off with a wrap behind, a couple in front, then up and over again to trap it, twice, and trim.
Pull the rubber legs away from the front, build a thread dam pinching the previous wraps, then form a neat red head.
Double whip finish, then apply thin Solarez Bone Dry. The first coat soaks into the thread, so give it a second for a clean glossy head, and cure.
Brush the fly out with a nylon brush to free any trapped fibres, never stainless steel with this core material, and trim the rubber legs to suit the hook size.
