Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer or jig hook, 8-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (Tungsten or brass (optional))
  • Tail Olive/black material (Marabou, one to two shank lengths)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (Few strands Krystal Flash)
  • Body Olive/black material (Marabou or leech dubbing)
  • Collar Olive/black material (Soft hackle or palmered marabou)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye and mount the hook.
  2. At the bend tie in a marabou tail one to two shank lengths long for a long, undulating profile, plus a few strands of flash.
  3. Wrap or dub a slim marabou body forward to just behind the bead. Keep it sparse so it breathes.
  4. Wrap a soft marabou or hen collar behind the bead and sweep the fibers back.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead.
