Classic Recipe

  • Hook Streamer, 3x long, 4-8
  • Thread Brown or olive 6/0

Materials

  • Claws Rabbit strip or feather tips (2)
  • Body Dubbing or chenille (segmented)
  • Shellback Thin Skin or scud back (over body)
  • Legs Rubber legs or hackle (3 pairs)
  • Eyes Mono eyes (burned) (1 pair)
  • Weight Lead dumbbell eyes (1 pair underneath)
  • Antennae Pheasant tail fibers (2)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, tie in lead eyes underneath for hook-up orientation
  2. Tie in mono eyes and antennae at what will be the head (bend)
  3. Build claws from rabbit strip or feather tips, proportional, not oversized
  4. Build segmented body forward with dubbing
  5. Pull shellback over each segment, tie down with rib
  6. Add rubber legs at intervals
  7. Whip finish at eye. The crayfish swims backward so the hook eye is the tail
