Body/abdomen Rusty brown dubbing or 2mm brown foam (full shank)
Legs Cock pheasant tail fibres, each tied with 1-2 overhand knots (6 (3 each side))
Wings Two barred dun (grizzly) hackle tips, tied spent (2)
Thorax/hackle Brown dubbing and/or a few turns of brown cock hackle (as needed)
How to tie it
Dub or wrap a slim rusty-brown abdomen over the rear two-thirds of the shank, keeping it slender like the natural.
Prepare six pheasant tail fibres, tying one or two overhand knots in each to form the kinked knee joints. The knots make the legs kick out realistically.
Tie in the six knotted legs splayed out at the thorax, three trailing each side.
Tie in two grizzly hackle tips flat and spent for the wings, one each side.
Dub a small brown thorax (and add 2-3 turns of brown hackle if you want more float), whip finish at the eye and cement.
