Shrimp · Bonefish · Redfish · Sea Trout · Snook · Permit · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Bendback (front third of shank bent upward) or bend a standard saltwater hook, 2-6
- Thread Tan 6/0
Materials
- Antennae/Tail Tan carapace (Sparse craft fur, one shank length)
- Flash Pearl flashabou (4-6 strands Krystal Flash)
- Body Tan carapace (Craft fur underfur, dubbing loop)
- Wing/Shellback Tan sheet foam (Craft fur, tied on top)
How to tie it
- Mount the bendback hook and start thread at the rear, at the start of the bent-up section.
- Tie in a sparse tan craft fur tail one shank length long plus 4-6 strands of pearl flash.
- Build a sparse craft-fur dubbing loop and wind it forward to the eye for a tapered body. Keep it thin.
- Because the point rides up, tie a light craft fur wing along the TOP of the shank so it shields the point and runs weedless.
- Sweep the wing back over the point and lock it with a few wraps.
- Whip finish behind the eye and pick out a few legs underneath.
