How to tie it
Start the Tan thread and wrap back to the start of the bend.
Lightly wax the thread and dub a slim body of Tan dubbing forward over about two-thirds of the shank.
Take a small tuft of Coyote mask fur, pull the underfur out (it will not stack otherwise), stack it as best it will, and tie it in extending a little past the bend. Cheat the tie-in toward your side so the first wrap rolls it partly around the shank; you want wing showing on both sides. A couple more tight wraps forward lock it in.
Flatten the tie-in area with a few thread wraps to make a base for the collar hackle.
Lay two strands of Thin Crystal Flash on top, about wing length, take one wrap, then fold them back over themselves so four strands trail back. Secure and snip to length.
Tie in the Light tan or cream hackle one size undersized (about a 16 on a size 14). It is the only thing floating this fly, so a lot of turns are coming.
Wrap the hackle five, six or seven turns, bind off, and snip the excess and any stray barbs pointing forward.
Pull everything back, whip finish a small head, and add head cement if you like.
