Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard curved scud/nymph hook, 12-18
  • Thread Blue 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Pearl 'jawbreaker' (1, sized to hook)
  • Body Pearl over blue thread (pearl tinsel or Krystal Flash)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (extra-small wire)
  • Thorax Pink ears (fine dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the pearl bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start blue thread behind the bead.
  2. Wrap a smooth blue thread underbody down into the bend and back.
  3. Tie in the silver wire, then bind in pearl tinsel and wrap it forward over the blue body to the 80% mark; tie off and snip.
  4. Counter-wrap the silver rib forward in 4-5 turns, bind, and helicopter off the tag.
  5. Dub a small pink thorax right behind the bead.
  6. Build a neat collar and whip finish.
