Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 2 versions
Reference Recipe
- Hook Heavyweight barbless nymph hook, 12-16
- Thread Camel 8/0
Materials
- Rib Dark brown pearl material (fine round ribbing)
- Body Coyote mask (natural coyote dubbing)
- Hackle Mottled grey hackle (1 Brahma hen saddle feather)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread just behind the eye, running a base back to the bend.
- Tie in the pearl ribbing at the bend and leave it hanging.
- Dub a slim, buggy coyote-mask body forward to the 80% mark. Use half the dubbing you think you need.
- Wrap the pearl rib forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns to segment the body, bind, and snip.
- Tie in a mottled grey hen saddle feather by the tip and take 1-2 turns for a soft, breathing collar.
- Sweep the hackle fibers back, build a small head, and whip finish.
