How to tie it
Slide a copper bead onto a Daiichi 1760, start rust brown thread and tie in a short tuft of Uni-Stretch in front of the bead for the gills.
Push the bead back up against the gills and re-start the thread behind it, then tie in copper wire for the rib, dark brown buzzer wrap at the back of the shank, and finally the red holographic tinsel.
Finish building your thread taper down the shank, then wind the red holographic tinsel forward in touching turns, tie it off behind the bead and trim. This layer is what glows through the finished fly.
Cover that tinsel with the dark brown buzzer wrap, again in touching turns, letting just enough red bleed through from underneath. Buzzer wrap is translucent, so the tinsel does the work and the wrap tones it down to a natural pupa colour.
Segment the body with the copper wire, aiming for seven to eight evenly spaced turns up to the bead, then tie the wire off and helicopter the tag out.
Whip finish and coat the body with resin or superglue. The coating both magnifies the layered colours and makes the fly last through a lot of fish.
