Midge · Trout · Beginner · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard curved scud/midge hook, 18-24
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Bead Silver or copper slotted tungsten bead (small glass or tungsten)
- Body Copper thorax stripe (extra-small copper wire)
- Thorax Black ostrich herl (thread or fine dubbing)
How to tie it
- Slide the bead to the eye, mount the tiny hook, and start thread behind the bead.
- Bind copper wire along the shank down into the bend, keeping the underbody smooth.
- Wrap the copper wire forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, forming a slim segmented body; tie off and helicopter the tag.
- Build a small black thread thorax right behind the bead. Keep it slim, this is a midge.
- Whip finish and add a pinhead of head cement.
