  • Hook 1XL nymph/emerger hook, 14-18
  • Thread Black 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Trailing shuck Amber vinyl rib medium (sparse Antron/Zelon)
  • Abdomen Copper thorax stripe (small Ultra Wire)
  • Flashback Pearl flashabou (strand of Flashabou)
  • Thorax Natural case (peacock herl)
  • Wing/legs Natural dun rubber legs (1 CDC feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a short, sparse amber Antron shuck, no longer than half a shank, to suggest the trailing husk.
  3. Bind in the copper wire and wrap a slim segmented abdomen forward to the 60% mark; tie off and snip.
  4. Tie in a strand of pearl Flashabou pointing rearward for the flashback.
  5. Wrap 2-3 peacock herls into a small thorax up to the bead.
  6. Pull the Flashabou over the thorax and pin it behind the bead.
  7. Tie in a CDC feather by the tip and take one soft turn as an emerging wing/leg collar, then sweep the fibers back.
  8. Build a tiny head and whip finish.
