Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Standard nymph/dry hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Body peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2 herls)
  • Shellback deer hair Natural mottled turkey (small clump)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in a small clump of deer hair at the bend with the tips extending rearward as a short tail/butt.
  2. Wind a peacock herl body forward over the shank.
  3. Pull the deer hair forward over the back as a shellback and tie down behind the eye.
  4. Leave a short tuft of tips as a head, whip finish, and trim.
