Conehead Woolly Bugger Rubber Legs

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Cone Gold or black conehead (1)
  • Tail Black or olive marabou (one plume)
  • Flash Pearl Krystal Flash (6 strands)
  • Body Black or olive chenille (one strand)
  • Hackle Grizzly or matching saddle (1 feather)
  • Legs Barred rubber legs (2-3 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the cone to the eye and mount the hook. Start thread and run it to the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long with a few strands of flash to each side.
  3. Bind in the hackle by the tip and the chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the cone and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off behind the cone.
  6. Add two or three pairs of barred rubber legs splayed along the sides.
  7. Build a collar behind the cone, whip finish, and cement.
