Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Cone Gold conehead (1)
  • Tail Olive marabou with copper flash (one plume)
  • Body Olive/brown variegated chenille (one strand)
  • Hackle Grizzly dyed brown saddle (1 feather)
  • Legs Barred brown/orange rubber legs (2-3 pairs)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold cone to the eye and mount the hook. Start thread and run it to the bend.
  2. Tie in an olive marabou tail one shank length long with a few strands of copper flash to each side.
  3. Bind in the hackle by the tip and the variegated chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the cone and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off behind the cone.
  6. Add two or three pairs of barred rubber legs splayed along the sides.
  7. Build a collar behind the cone, whip finish, and cement.
